Hello again everyone. First I apologize if I’m posting about the same thing three times. What’s come to my attention after speaking with the employees that maybe different approach is required to choosing the pickups for my semi hollow walnut warmoth I’m building. I was considering putting a juggernaut in the bridge and painkiller ceramic in the neck.
Their response
Hi Uriel,
all of the pickups that you mention are really high outputs to be putting into a hollow bodied guitar. Usually we would suggest being somewhat lighter on output in order to retain detail and definition in any instrument that has a loud or particularly resonant acoustic character. Do you have any examples of the kind of tones that you are aiming for with this guitar?
To which I replied
Interesting.. well I play all different kinds of styles is the thing and usually just adjust my amp accordingly. The thing about me is I don’t play one styles sometimes it’s extremely aggressive rock metal grunge etc. and other times it’s super soft or even polka style gypsy music or blues.. what I’m looking for in my pick ups mainly is clarity and attack bass and bite. As well as full chord articulation while using a lot of gain. I know it sounds like a high order but that’s why I have decided that I think The juggernaut bridge and either painkiller or cold sweat neck might do it. This might be asking a lot but maybe you could listen to the demo and I’ll show you at least a bit I have. For instance the song “on a mission” is entirely played on the neck, while “just a little more” is full bridge. If this isn’t asking too much I greatly appreciate your advice since you sound like you know what you’re talking about. Ready to order I just need the proper advice to pull the trigger on a set. https://againstnature1.bandcamp.com/releasesIf anyone would be willing to listen to hear what I’m doing with the neck on those songs I’d be very greatful. Also wondering if anyone would be willing to make a short video of them playing rhythm guitar in the neck position ESPECIALLY if you own PK ceramics or cold sweat as well as rebel yells? I would be very grateful for either or both. Opinions are greatly welcome to anyone experienced in semi-hollows who play aggressive guitar as well as versatility being concerned genre/tone wise. Thanks in advance you’ve all been an amazing community. Really appreciate eveything! Thanks for reading.
Ps. It’s a demo so it kinda sounds like sh** but you get the point.
