Mexican Strat replacement pickups
« on: February 17, 2019, 10:28:20 PM »
Hi All,

I picked up a Mexican Strat a while ago. For the money I think its a lovely guitar but I've gotten to the point where I want to replace the pickups.
I've read through a lot of threads and listened to all the sound samples on the pickup pages and if i'm honest i'm probably leaning towards the '59 slab boards but I thought I'd ask for some opinions on what set you folks would recommend.

The Strat is a 2017 MIM, SSS, Alder body, Maple neck with a Pau Ferro fingerboard.
I enjoy playing a bit of bluesy stuff, poorly, but I enjoy it. If I had to describe the sound I like it would be sort of SRV, John Mayer Trio, Joe Bonamassa, Kenny Wayne Sheperd, Jeff Healey.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Pat Pend series are great for that, so is the Mother's Milk. These three are quite close in sound: woody and glassy. A tad hotter and bolder are the Irish Tours, but they do SRV very well too. I play them for many years now.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.
