I replaced the stock Mojo pickup in the bridge position of my Eggle 96 with a Rebel yell a while back. I changed it as the stock was way too dark for my taste. While the rebel yell is far better, its still a little on the dark side. Although I really do like the pickup over all, I really would like a similar pickup with a bit more top end bite . The guitar in question has a p90 in the neck position which might also be up for a swap out to something a bit brighter. The guitar has a swamp ash body with myrtlewood top (only about 5mm thick) and a roasted maple neck and I play a whole manner of music mainly based in the rock world.
The one change I'm going to make as the pickup is direct mounted Is to add a pickup ring so I can adjust the height easier, also I think I prefer it from a cosmetic view. But I used to have an emerald in an old guitar and really liked that. Also considering the VHii. I tend to prefer a lower output pickup, as I like the dynamic range more. I also prefer the clean sound of the and like letting the amp do the work when the gain is applied. I think this comes from mainly playing Strats and Les pauls with paf style pups. But the Eggle 96 was bought to cover the rockier side of things.
