1981 Gibson Les Paul Custom - My #1

I picked up this 1981 Les Paul Custom a few years ago and it's my go to electric. The neck is absolutely perfect for me (thin necks give me horrible hand cramps and thick necks are just too slow) and the action is incredible.  The unpotted stock Tim Shaw pickups do squeal a little bit too much, but I've had a hell of a hard time figuring out what I'm going to put in this guitar. I'm seriously contemplating trying Ragnaroks, their modern overtones sound extremely intriguing but I don't play too much metal these days which is my largest reservation.

People who like a more modern sounding pickup seem to really like the Impulse in Les Pauls.  They come with the cool radiator style covers now too.

Thanks. I'm not necessarily after a more modern sound as I just love the overtones the Ragnaroks seem to produce in their cleaner clips, not just the demos that Misha Mansoor did but several Youtube demos have been able to reproduce the same overtones. I might ultimately hate them or just find I'm not getting my tones with them, I don't know.

John Huldt's impulse demo was pretty kickjass, but it's definitely not what I'm after. Still, a great sound. His Ragnarok and Abraxas demos were downright amazing though, then again so are most of his videos.
