Warpigs or nailbombs for death metal
« on: March 14, 2020, 10:42:51 AM »
I’m trying to decide between warpigs and nailbombs for my baritone guitar... we play death metal (more old school style). I need something that’s tight enough for rhythms with good bass response. My guitar has a korina body and i play through an engl savage 120, which is a pretty middy amp... i don’t have a very scooped sound, i like my guitar to cut through while retaining enough low end chunk. I play leads as well once in a while so i’ll need a neck pickup that can do those.. cleans don’t matter much.. also i can’t decide whether to pick ceramic or alnico..

Oh and it’s a baritone tuned to B standard, sometimes A

Yeah, I don't think Nailbombs are really the best for death metal.

Painkiller, ceramic Warpig, Ragnarok, Miracle Man are the ones I would be looking at.
BLACK HAWKS
IMPULSES
COBRA-T
WAR PIGS
STOCKHOLM
COLD SWEATS
MIRACLE MAN

Aftermath is a brilliant pickup.

I can get great death metal tones with Juggernauts in my Ibanez RG BUT that is a very bright guitar with a lot of attack.  The Juggs are not suitable to warmer guitars in my experience.
