Bridge humbucker for telecaster deluxe

Hello everyone, 
Greetings from the Netherlands. I am new to the forum and I hope to share experiences overhere with other players and maybe learn a thing or two along the way.


I have a telecaster deluxe (the one with the wide range humbuckers and the large headstock) that I bought from a friend recently. Real nice guitar that feels  and plays great. He had replaced the wide rang humbuckers in the past for a set of Seymour Duncan Phat Cats.
The original WRH's did not come close to the original ones from the seventies, in fact they were just common humbuckers with a lot of wax to fit them in the larger covers. 


Anyway, I like the sound of the Phat Cat in the neck, it has a nice growls to it, so I want to keep that one where it is.
I don't like the one in the bridge very much, it sounds flat and dull to my ears and I think of replacing it by a humbucker that would pair nicely with the Phat Cat and give the guitar more versatility. I am not after a particulair guitarist's sound but more after a good humbucker for blues, bluesrock and classic rock in general.


Any suggestions anyone?

I'd wait for Telerocker's suggestion, but I would think that an Abraxas might work well here

Classic rock would be the PAF style Mule. The Abraxas is hotter and more middier than the mule.

Lot of options here.  I would like to know if your guitar has a natural flat eq, or some peaks in frequencies. Further your personal taste counts. Do you like a open, dynamic pickup or you favour a bit of compression?

I would certainly look at the Bootcamp series, which saves you some money. The Old Guard humbucker is alnico II and would match the Phat Cat in that respect. For hot blues yould consider the True Grit.

From the regular BKP line the Mule is fantastic, but personally I think it excells in mahogany based guitars. So you might want to consider the Abraxas or Crawler too. These do beef up a alder/ash bolt on guitars. Both split well, so in split mode you would get close to a tele single coil as well.

And what about a humbucker sized P90 in the bridge? A Nantucket is great for blues to classic rock. I don't know if they fit in your guitar.

Well, there sure are a lot of options here that I haven thought of. Especially the abraxas sounds interesting to me. I read somewhere that it was like a Mule on steroids. Going to look around online for samples in the days to come. Just the other day I heared a friend play a Squier strat that had the bootcamp true grit single cois installed in it. Sounded really good too, so I am going to give the bootcamp series a closer look too.

Yes, Abraxas is a hotrodded Mule, both have AIV magnets.
