Recommend Me Do: Rack FX and MIDI Controller
« on: May 03, 2006, 04:29:38 PM »
Right, I think I'm going to go the full rack route seeing as I'm partially there with the JMP1 and 9100 I already have.

So I need a rack multi-FX and MIDI foot pedal to start with.

Currently I'm leaning towards a TC Electronics G-Major (which I'll hopefully be able to try out on Saturday at the LGS) with a Behringer FCB1010 foot pedal, but I'd like to see what you guy's think?

Other Multi-FX which seem popular are the Rocktron Xpression and on the footpedal side the Rocktron MIDI mate (which is £100+ more expensive than the Behringer and doesn't come with any expression pedals).

I may try and pick up a BBE Sonic Maximizer off eBay for fun and hi-jinx too.  ;)

Any advice or opinions?

Cheers

My mate in Whole Lotta Led uses an intellifex, i think that's a rocktron and a midi wizard controller. That's used with the rack marshall jmp and the 100 watt stereo power amp. It sounds like a good way of doing it if your gigging. It's all one touch on the controller and a whole new set of pre-amp and fx settings come in to play. He might be going to the LGS so you could pick his brains there. It sounds great by the way!

I fancy one of those BBE sonic maximizers too!

I use a Rocktron Intellifex with a Midimate and it's a great set up.
Intellifex was £80 off eBay and the Midimate £110

They are the only two components I kept when I sold my 8U rack, now it's an Engl Powerball and 4x12 and the Intellifex  :D

I've taken the plunge and ordered a G-Major and a MIDI mate foot controller.  :)
