EVH USA Stealth. Need help ASSP, info in the post!!
« on: March 13, 2021, 08:56:03 PM »
Hi guys!

I have A USA EVH stealth with basswood body and thin maple cap. Has a maple bolt on neck with ebony fingerboard. Floyd rose bridge.

The amp is a driftwood purple nightmare into a Bogner uberkab with v-30 and gt75 in an x pattern.

Nick at the axe palace said ceramic war pigs. Then I found him on here recommending the miracle man for a basswood.
I generally do a scooped huge sound. Modern hard rock and metal. It’s the make up of the guitar that I am fighting. Seems my 3 are ceramic warpigs, Miracle man or the silos.

It's hard to help unless you can describe the tonal characteristics

1. unplugged
2. with your current pickups (what are they?)
3. what you like about the current sound and what you don't

Yeah those two sounds are quite different so that doesn't help!

I'm going to guess that the guitar is bright acoustically, although the basswood might take the edge off of that.

You might also want to consider the Ragnorok.

Stock pickups and strings are out so I can’t compare a sound. I did not like the EVH pickups. I tried the Jim Root EMG and Fishman Fluence Classics as well. Both I did not like. The pinch harmonics just are not there as well. Before anyone says anything, I have the technique down very well. Nevertheless, pickup changes for me, result in the ease of pinch harmonics. All the above pickups were just missing something. Fishman sounded plastic, EMG sounded c--ked wah.

If you are getting a c--ked wah sound out of your guitar then the Miracle Man might be a good choice.  It has a mid scoop.  It also does mean pinch harmonics.  I would probably avoid the Silo, it might be too strong in the mids

With a guitar that has solid mids the MM generally sounds very good.  Out of all the pickups I've tried in my SG Standard - Gibson 498T, alnico Nailbomb, Cold Sweat, and Miracle Man - the MM is definitely the best and is the most organic sounding in that context.  Doesn't sound like an EMG.

the Miracle Man sounds right indeed

there were lots of Miracle Man heavy clips in basswood superstrats out there, but looks like most of the old soundclip websites are down

Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat
