Its not really new... but it looks like an all new guitar. It started out as this horrible looking sunburst when I first got it:

So I decided to repaint it blue, which I didnt even like the look of.. Anyway, in the past few weeks I've been redoing the thing, which involved stripping paint, lots of sanding and oiling. I redid the electronics today, I hope I did it right becuase I dont fancy taking it all apart again :lol: Here it is, I'm really pleased with how it looks now. Feel free to post comments etc :D

Oh yeah, if I dont like the SD I'm gonna eventually get a BK hss set for it, if I like the SD then I'll just get BK singles, cant wait. The only thing I dont like is that for some reason the knobs dont sit flush with the body, they are sitting around 5mm above, they wont go any further which is kinda disappointing as I like it when they are flush.. I can try some deeper ones maybe if anyone knows of any that are deep? Oh yeah, bought the electronic parts from BK aswell, great service as usual :)

Nice finish,

quick question: When you take the strings off, do you need to keep the neck tensioned, or can i just leave some time between each string to let it adjust itself???

Oh shite... I didnt even think of that. Still looks straight though.. but obviously I took it off string by string because I dont have 6 hands to do each string at the same time. Its not like it suddenly went from high tension to low tension.. I hope!

Actually long story.
Simply, been my nick for years.
Lived in Hawaii years back (worked as a diver/instructor).
Dakine in Hawaiian is "the one" as in, da man.
I got called this for NO "brilliant" reason other than I would roll up my sleeves and tackle anything (somthing others would not, as in I would unblock the store toilet rather than call a plumber, as all others wanted to do). Thus if somthing not "diver related" came up they used to wait for "Dakine" to turn up, lol.

You ever hear real Hawaiian music? It's da kine!

it's a "catch all" phrase that's use depends on the situation.

All it took was a "plunger" to unstop it. Few minute/few dollar job, as opposed to a plumber. One day went round bosses house and he was just looking at his fish pond. I asked whats up and he said the pump was faulty. I just took off my boots and rolled up my jeans and waded in to get it, he was open mouth shocked that I would just do that. Some of these Americans can be kinda odd (imo) lol.

Tom...

Getting back onto topic. before you restring the guitar take the pick gard off one more time if you want to fix the "knobs 5mm of the body" problem.

Its actually quite simple.

Pull the knob off.

loosen the top nut on the pots' thread by the desired amount. 5mm in this case.

Tighten the bottom nut up to the new postion. Do up only finger tight at this stage.

Replace knob. Repeat above steps to either raise or lower the pot untill you reach the desired height.

Now just checking.... have the knobs always been raised off the deck or just since you rewired the guitar?
