Strat setup problem

Basically I put the neck back on my strat copy today, and restrung it, and the high E chokes on the upper frets when I bend, but only when I do it on the 14th anf 15th frets, also happens slightly on the B string.. Never had this problem beforehand.. Any ideas what might have changed? The neck looks pretty straight and I've never adjusted the action because the allen key required is tiny..

Also I may have a slight wiring problem. On positions 2&4, the sound is thin and weak compared to the other positions.. Any ideas why? On SD's, what is the colour code, in terms of north start, north end, south start, south end?

It's possible that when you sanded the neck pocket or end of the neck that you changed how it sits and now might need to shim it.  I'm too tired to think of better advice right now.  :?

As for the electronics, it sounds a lot like you wired the middle pickup without it being out of phase.  You just need to reverse the wires for that pickup.  Some people say that non-reverse phase middle pickups sound better, but I've only found it to be thinner and more trebly.

Well the only wires inside the cable for the middle pickup are the braid type one which is ground, and a white one which goes to the switch.. Dunno if reversing these would do anything?

Oh, and for the buzzing, have you tried raising the bridge saddles a bit?  That's prolly your first port of call for buzzing above the 12th fret.

I want to, but I cant find an allen key small enough to get into the bit where it needs adjusting.. I loosened the screws on the bridge (the 6 that hold it to the body) and it seemed to help for some reason.

When you say reverse the neck and bridge, what do you mean? I have a HSS so I cant exactly swap the pickups around if thats what you mean  :lol:

Heh.  Nah, I meant the wires. Surely they can be swapped around? I had this problem before in position 2 and I reversed the bridge's wires and it sorted it all out.

Oh... so do you mean put the bridges wires where the necks are meant to go and vice versa.. sorry I'm shite at this haha.

LOL!  No!  Heh.  don't worry; I'm tired as hell and probably explaining this badly.  I meant swap the two wires from the bridge around with themselves.  then swap the neck pickup's wires around with themselves.

i'm back for a sec.  and maybe you should try reversing these wires before you do anything else.  perhaps you could wait for more advice, but i'm fairly sure that reversing these wires should help.

Ok I'll have a go when I get a good soldering iron, although I dont really know what I'm doing I have a wiring diagram to revert back to if nothing works :P
