BKP True grit single coil Stratocaster set
« on: April 03, 2022, 04:35:44 PM »
Hi everyone,

I was never really satisfied with the tone of the original pups of my 2002 Fender Highway One Stratocaster. It lacked body and presence. They were staggered but all the upper strings wouldn't really ring when playing big chords. So I had no bass, no mids presence, and a very unbalanced volume for each string. Terrible situation!

Long story short I installed a set of BKP True grit like 13 months ago and it brought back the guitar to life. It turned out to be my favorite tone machine since then. I recorded quite a few videos with the set for youtube which I intend to share:

Here's how it sounds in a band context, played on a EVH 5150:

I hope that this helps people make up their mind whether those are the right pick for their stratocaster, or any situation where a single coil is necessary.

It's not about the gear, it's about what you say with it.

Nice demos, thanks.  My style is different, but that gives me the idea that a set of True Grit Strat pickup might work for me. I generally am not happy with lower output Strat pickups, even good ones from small winders.

Right now I have a single H config in my Strat.  I have a Crawler in that single H slot, and I'm quite pleased, but if I go back to SSS, I will be looking at the True Grits!

I've used the HSS to good effect in the past.
