Looking for suggestions on my first set of BKPs
« on: September 16, 2022, 03:35:46 AM »
Edit: I think my original post might have been too long so I'm revising it.

Looking to replace the pickups in my PRS SE Custom 24 (I'm a lefty) I've read a bunch of the reviews here in the forums, watched countless videos on YouTube and read quite a few posts on Reddit and at this point I feel like I'm a little lost and looking for some suggestions/direction.

Here's a link to the guitar (specs on are the page): https://prsguitars.com/electrics/model/se_custom_24_2022

I'm thinking Ragnaroks or Warpigs, but I'm open to other suggestions.  Looking for tones in the vein of Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power and Modern/Prod Metal like Periphery III, Trivium's In Waves.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you revised your post too much and now there's not enough info! What don't you like about the stock pickups/what are you looking to achieve by changing them? What's the guitar like acoustically - bright/dark/muddy/thin/warm etc?

The amp/cab is 80% of the battle when it comes to metal tones, but let's assume it's something that's getting you most of the way there.

Based on what you've said, particularly name-dropping Periphery, I'd say the Ragnarok will of course definitely do that in pretty much anything you put it in, and will happily do Trivium and Pantera too (although obviously don't expect to sound like Dimebag, his guitar tone was... unique! Works in Pantera but not elsewhere, IMO)

BKPs owned:
Stormy Mondays, Mules, Emeralds, 10ths, Mothers Milks, Nantucket, Black Dogs, Holydivers, A-bombs, Warpigs, Sinners, Cold Sweats
