Unusual combo?
« on: September 21, 2022, 12:17:27 PM »
In pursuit of being succinct, I believe I have a mildly unique humbucker combo in my Ibanez.  After an exhausting number of swaps and string changes I've come to a pairing of the Cold Sweat bridge with a Nailbomb neck.  The CS bridge (mine is covered) tames most of the honky quality in my guitar's mids that I've been fighting with and has fantastic sustain.  The NB neck is wonderfully woody, sweet and is gorgeous on a clean channel.  Not saying that this combo is perfect or permanent, but so far so great!

Lastly, a giant thank you to Tim for the spot on recommendation after a quick email.  I hope the day finds you all well.

actually, this makes more sense than the other way around (nb bridge + cs neck)
Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat

I have a Stormy Monday neck on order to try out next (I usually leave the nailbomb's volume on about 5.5-6 and it's just so satisfying right over the edge of breakup that I'm hoping to find something closer to that at full volume).  The Cold Sweat is staying in the bridge though, I think this guitar was made for it.
