I turned 40 last week, and decided to treat myself. Got one of these:

Yeah, an Epiphone Old Glory, the Jared James Nichols sig, one of the old black ones.
I'm no stranger to single-pickup guitars, also having owned a Gordon Smith GS1 for about 3 years. I like that one and it was one of the few good things that happened to me in a really rubbish time in my life. I always found the neck a bit skinny though, and saw a few single-pickup "Customs" I liked the idea of, knew this model had a fat neck on it, so I got one.
After just over a week with it, I definitely made the right choice. I've since took the "BLUES POWER" plate off, because I don't see myself as a blues guy (I think JJN is a pretty good player though, if not my cup of tea).
Overall, like the feel and the sound of this, although I have been a humbucker guy in the past, I'm getting into the P-90 sound more and more. Plugged into my Victory V4 Sheriff amp (also a recent acquisition), it sounds great and it cleans up nicely when I back off the volume in a way I don't get with my humbucker guitars. I'm actually thinking of a set of BKP HSP90s for my Edwards down the line.
Stock Duncan pickup sounds good, I may consider Bare Knuckle for it in the future if I fancy something a bit hotter, but this does the job just fine for now. You have to work with the guitar more to pull all the tones you need out of it, but that's part of the fun with such a simple guitar!
