For those about to rock.....
« on: May 12, 2006, 06:46:34 PM »
Well Folks. I've decided it's time to bring the rock. I'm taking it upon myself to form Belfast's first, last and only tribute band to the mighty Spinal Tap. Are there any here who will join my quest?

I'm nowhere near Belfast, but that sounds like it could be a lot of fun.  :)

What you gonna be called? Break Like the Wind? Lick my Love Pump? Gimme Some Money? Haha there's so many names you could choose. Sounds like great fun. Good luck with it :D. I wish I lived near Belfast, I'd be well up for that.

One of my customers was in a WELSH Spinal Tap tribute called Spinal TAFF
Check out his axe

my old covers band used to be called 'One Louder', I think it's the obvious choice for a Tap cover band.  With two strong characters in the band we had a fire & ice chemistry going on.  'My' job was to be luke-warm water    :D

I was working on calling the band Painful Procedure, which, having had a spinal tap at one point, I can assure you it is...

I dunno.

There's seven perfectley good vowels that could take an umlaut too...

The first band with eight umlauts. Thats seven louder than motorhead!!!

As the bassist in Spinal Taff, here's a piccy of my finest axe (before the tripple neck evolved!)  Made from finest Welsh Plywood, professionally finished with Cwm Rhondda Hammerite.  Incidentally, the p/u was pinched out of a cr*p Hondo II ricky 4001 copy. The Hondo was absolute trite, with railway lines for frets, one p/u was knackered, but surpising, the other p/u actually made a sound..........back to work.

Another piccy of the tripple neck - in all its glory (should that read gorey!)

Actually, necks are all Aria Pro II, (supplied by a very nice luthier from Croydon!), the middle neck was going to be a 12-string, but ran out of room on the headstock, so it only got 10. The bottom E and A remained singles.  Makes the intonation a wee bit easier! The body curves were based on a Westone Paduak-1.

Still trying to work out how all three of us guitarists can play it at the same time. By myself, I can play it for about 15 minutes, before a slipped disc sets in!

amazing triple neck :P

the best Tap guitar is off Spinal Tap - The Return... where he brings out the Jackson Marshall Stack guitar, then adds another cab to it to make it louder :P
