Aftermath Cover Removal?
« on: October 20, 2023, 02:19:10 PM »
Hi all,
Can you remove the covers on a set of Aftermath 7 string pickups? I'm thinking of buying a Solar 7 string guitar and retro fitting my Aftermath 7's, however, the covered Aftermaths won't fit it. I'm wondering if it's possible to remove the covers and if that will allow them to fit in the cavities of the Solar.
Many thanks in advance,
Mark

Removing the covers voids the waranty.

With that out of the way, the baseplate of the BKP humbuckers with and without covers is identical afaik. If a regular humbucker fits the cavity in your guitar, then the uncovered Aftermath should fit.

The baseplates are identical, but you might find that the Solar requires the corners to be a bit more rounded-off. That is possible to do with an open pickup, but you are certainly drifting into territory where the risk of damage to the pickup becomes quite high, so you might want to consider sending them in for the necessary mods (which also preserves your warranty if you're the original owner of these)
