Interesting POD XT Live Usage

ok, you have a Laney LC30 lying around, alongside a Crate GT65... and you use your XT Live for headphones whenever your at home... you get a bit bored... want to hear some proper sound coming out of a speaker.... so what do you do...?

GO CRAZY WITH STEREO PING-PONG DELAY OF COURSE!!!!


i just realised the stereo capabilities of the POD... so connected the Laney for the left and Crate for the right and voila... an awesomely cool sounding rig... whack on some crazy delay effects and have some fun!!!

a question though, to add some point to this thread, in peoples experiences, do Valve or SS amps work better with modellers??? i was running it through the effects loop of the LC30 which sounded AWESOME... but the Crate only has a 'send' on the back not a return...? so i was just running it through the front of that... didnt sound quite so cool but with the two together it was so damn good...

just wondering if the whole stereo thing is something i explore, then whether to get another valve after selling the crate, or get another solid state from selling the laney... or maybe sell both and get two full-range speakers??? our drummers dad has bagged us a FREE P.A SYSTEM!!! (ohhhh yeahhhh  :twisted:  8)  :D ) but i wanna be able to have effects e.t.c on my OWN sound not mastered... i.e.... stereo set-up for me- run BOTH of my amps into two tracks on the PA mixer, then whatever crazy shitee i have on my sound, wont affect the rest of the guys... hope that makes sense... so basically- i want it so i could have stereo-sweeping/ping-pong delay on MY sound... moving from between the two PA speakers, without it putting delay on any of the guys' stuff... you see what i mean? i dunno, maybe PA's and mixers can do that already... but just wondering....

with it's amp modelling can't the pod be plugged straight into the p.a. anyway?  or does that not apply on the stereo outputs?  if you're going into two channels of the p.a. straight from the pod then your effects won't alter anything plugged into any of the other channels.

yer it can be plugged directly to PA.... hmmm.... thing is... i dunno whether the amps being there give the sound a boost/improve it in any way at all... i guess i'll just have to try it out direct to PA and through amps...


the thing is with the stereo-ness... i dunno what capabilities or options the mixer/PA will have... i.e... you may not be able to set two tracks to delay/pan between the two speakers...

Well if your PA is anything like the one at the studio where we practise, then I think each channel has a panning knob so what you could do is set one channel to pan all the way left and the other right.. plug in the cables in the right ones and BAM! :D

All very nice in theory Sambo but the problem live is that the audience member can only be in one place and will not necessarily get the benefit of the stereo. They cant all stand in the middle and get the spread you see- some will but many wont. Having said that, it is great fun mucking about with it. The best thing is to have two amps relatively near to each other but far enough apart to get the stereo effect. Then at least more people will hear it but even that will be limited to a few lucky punters. Tis my experience for what it is worth but dont let me put you off experimenting. I'd also say that 2 valve amps are better- certainly they can warm up digital effects though lately I have been using a ss amp with a Korg AX1500g and a DHA Purist pedal and have got a great tone llive- one channel from the AX into the amp and the other into the PA as I am in between amps at the mo and with a heavily insolvant son to bail out- it aint gonna change for a while.

I always split my signal and run it into my uber b-52 combo set on a high gain setting and the other into a Traynor, broken up with a distortion pedal. EEAAAAR DRUM RAEP

and beatle- why didnt i realise that?!?! grrrr... thanks for the info.. gonna do some serious experimentation soon...
