haha sorry but cant agree with you on that... you cant say that a company's entire range of products is shitee just cause you didnt like their UBER CHEAP practice amp...

what was your description again...

" just want a nice clean channel and a JCm800 turbo marhsall sounding gain in a practise amp"

... a 'turbo' JCM800 with nice cleans for £110?  :?

word, Sam. :)

You know, it's easy to criticise; the internet is full of people talking in superlatives and hyperbole. The simple fact is that tone is going to be compromised by cost. So, realistically, what can you expect for £110?
The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away...

It's true you get what you pay for, but I bought a Line 6 Spider 30 watter for £150, and I could have bought a Roland Cube or Vox AD30 or for a little more a Laney LC15! (It's my first ever electric guitar and amp so it sounded 'awesome'  :D ) So I think the point is more that you can buy much better for the price of a Spider.

That said my Spider isn't that bad, I mean it makes my guitar louder, and it has a CD in and a headphone out, and its pretty versatile for practice at home. It is digital sounding, but it isn't the steaming mound of horse-radish everyone says it it.

yes but who says a LC15 is that great? i know Davey tried one and didnt like it AT ALL or something was wrong with it...

im not having a go, just saying that tone is nearly always personal opinion in my view.

and to add to what you mentioned, your always gonna get good+bad stuff in a price range, thats a FACT of LIFE not just the guitar world, so yes there may have been stuff that could have trumped the Spider tone wise in someones view, but that wouldnt make the Spider (or Line 6) shite....

this isnt addressed at you mate, just general...

sorry if im sounding angry at all, not meaning to come across like that.

and yer Ian- spot on mate.

Yeah sambo you're right, tone is subjective. Add to that the 'grass is always greener' factor, and I guess it's easy to be forever discontent. Really you can only be sure if you try everything, so it's kinda stupid for me to speculate how good everything else was.

You don't sound angry btw, you say reasonable guitar stuff rather than 'your mother's ugly,' so I don't mind at all  :D

Ok so say I had a shed loads of money what amp would be able to get turbo JCM800 + nice cleans at the same level of low volume for practise? I've looked around and there isnt any, I bought the line 6 out of deperations to Jam with people at lower volumes.
I've Cornford Harlequin which had great cleans but pants distorsion but no where near as bad as the line 6, this was £600 and supposed to be top of the range. Any suggestions would be great
