Single coil sized humbuckers?
« on: May 19, 2006, 09:54:37 PM »
Would anyone else like to see BKP single coil sized humbuckers?

My friend bought a hot rails to dirty up his old Fender.  Now he is wishing he bought a cool rails or chopper, or something quieter.  I'd send him to BKP but there are no mini-humbuckers available yet. :/

Wonder if they'd do a custom?

I think the BK guys like to keep to the traditional sizes- i.e h/bs are h/b sized, sc are singles etc. You can get powerful BK sc's though.

The Sinner is awesome.  Very good tone and tons of power.  It doesn't have a humbucker sound, because it's a sinlge coil, but it's about as loud a pickup as you'd need in most circumstances, especially if the Hot Rails was too hot.  I had a HR pickup a while ago and I prefer the Sinner.  Totally different sound though.

BKP don't do them because they don't sound like real humbuckers. If you think about it, someone wanting to pay extra for handmade pickups just to get that extra bit of tonal goodness, probably wouldn't want to then compromise that much on their sound by getting a smaller sized humbucker.

Yeah I'd like to see BK make a single coil sized HB for the Warmoth Tele I'm constructing, right now I have it set for a Piledriver in the neck and DiMarzio Tone Zone T in the bridge.
