First off, I'm certain you won't loose any tightness with uncovered pups, so don't worry about that.
Coil-tapping a 'Pig would probably get you a sweet clean sound (it's quite good untapped after all), but it won't be a humbucker sound, so I guess you'll need to ask yourself how important a great clean humbucker sound is to you.
A mule in the neck will most certainly give you that sweet clean vintage sound, but it's also a good alrounder though, it's not some weak one-trick pony.
I can't comment on the Cold Sweat from personal experience just yet, but I did order one for the neck position for my other explorer this weekend (along with a Miracle Man bridge 'pup) after Tim recommended it to me:
"The CS neck is very versatile, great for articulate shred but also warm enough for blues/rock and lovely cleans."
Whether you go for calibrated 'Pigs, a Mule or the CS, I'm sure you'll be happy with it. Think through what you really need from that neck position and as always, ask Tim if you're still unsure, no one knows better then him what the 'pups are capable off and suitable for.
Oh, and thanks for the compliment on the guitar.
