Hi all,

Just a note to anyone who doesn't know. This forum has a report post feature which enables you to alert us to a post that we might have missed contravenes the forum registration agreement. This includes porn, advertising and other spam, and other posts you find offensive.

To report a post click on the little :!: exclamation mark :!: in the top right hand side of every post.

If there are a lot posts in a thread, paste an extract from the offending post into the comments box so we can find it more quickly.

Some idiot tried to spam porn in the Pickup forum, and I roached him!

Possibly, but unless it can read the "human readable only" squares which we use to stop spam bots signing up, then it was probably a human.

I don't know whether spam bots have got that advanced yet.

From my experiences with a forum that I run they have unfortunately. :(

We've had to also block registrations from the major freebie e-mail addresses too (hotmail, yahoo, gmail, etc.) as they tend to get used by these spammers and trolls.

It's a real pain for legitimate users who wish to register with those addresses, but it has cut down the amount of spambots. A few still slip through the cracks though unfortunately. :(

Yeah, I've seen spam robots in action; the posts always seem to come up in the same parts of some forums and always with exactly the same pattern. Hmmm....they are pretty annoying.

Apparently Gmail is good as it is by invite only that you can get an account. i think this is the way for future E-mail providers, that way it's easier to track the abusers.
