Anyone Know?
« on: May 24, 2006, 09:05:53 PM »
Hey I'm going to buy a Nailbomb and want it fitted to my tele, however I have no idea how to go about doing this. Does anyone know or do yuo think I should have it done by a pro? If so does anyone know how much it would cost?
Thanks

does your tele already have a humbucker at the bridge?  if not, and it's a normal tele with the pickup mounted on the bridge plate, you're gonna need a new bridge.  ( pretty obvious, and you probably already knew, but thought i'd mention it, just in case...)

It is one of those few jobs that is worth having done by a pro, unless you are experienced with this kind of work.
They do have all the tools at their disposal (or we do at least) to make it go smoothly.

The guitar will need routing and a careful choice of bridge etc

It shouldn't cost too much, apart from the cost of the bridge and pickup
If you are buying the pickup and the bridge from the same workshop as well - chances are that they will be kinder when charging for the work on the guitar.

I'd agree with Jonathon - if you are going get routing done, get it done by a pro - your get will love you for it and the £££ will be forgotten after a while.  DIY is never a good idea when it comes to cutting chunks out of your guitar!

Thanks for the comments. Does anyone know how much it would cost roughly? Or do you think I should buy a dirt cheap guitar with humbucker and stick a Nailbomb in it?

I'd stick it in a Yamaha Pacifica 112 8) Gotta love Pacificas, and that way you'd still have ur tele intact, ripe for some BKP tele pups, and a higher resale value than if yu butchered it.
LOVING the Mules!
