BKPs for shred?
« on: May 25, 2006, 02:59:36 PM »
How well does the Holydiver do shred? I've got a Cort X custom superstrat that I use for technical work. It plays really well, but it's got an SD Invader at the bridge that is just TOO DAMN LOUD! To make it clean up I have to really attack the volume control, and the intrinsic tone is a bit harsh anyway.
Also, it's got an SH2 Jazz in the neck. I really love the clean articulation of notes it gives, but I'd like a bit more muscle. Would the VHII be a good swap? :?:

VH II will have less power, I think. Nailbom do a pretty good job for shred IMHO (power, articulation)

:D The VHII will have less output in terms of gain. What you`ll get in return is loads more Tone  :P

I Love my VHII`s won`t swap`em for anything !!  8)
The Nailbomb gets good reviews from shredders !! Tim also advises Cold Sweats espiecially the neck which i have to say as gainy as the neck is it is good !!

 :D  8)
God I could do with a Gin & Tonic !

Check my thread on holy divers  :D  If you like the shred sounds of paul gilbert/vinnie moore. Players who don't use alot of gain because they don't need to, then the holy diver is for you.

Sorry I misunderstood. You are looking for a neck pickup? I was thinking (and talking) about bridge pickup.
As a neck pickup, I never tried a VHII (only in bridge pos.), but I think it could do the job.

I'm looking for both, a bridge pickup with less gain and more tone than an invader, and a neck pickup with more gain than a Jazz without losing too much articulation.

Holy Diver set, definitely.
