HIGH 5!
It's funny how this whole forum has waged war upon just because i don't like some dodgy boring balkan music. I'm not completely closed-minded in my love for the 80's rawk scene! i like a lot of music, but most of this just doesn't float my boat. not even a little. sorry.
I listened thru all the tracks in that playlist thing. I tried to like it. It all sounds the same, apart  from Gajdarsko Oro, which i actually quite like - it has some life to it, and kind of reminds me of pirate music. pirate music is always cool 8) i can even dance to bits of it!
As for challenging myself; why? if i like it i like it, if i don't i don't - i'm bored of trying to like stuff i don't. this sucks.

It's cool that you don't like it, but by calling it 'some dodgy balkan music' etc it comes across that you were already prejudiced against such a type of music.

Remember, Vai himself stated the importance of Bulgarian folk music for his song 'Freak Show Excess'. :)

Stating that anyone/band you don't personally like either sucks, is boring or cannot play/is talentless is the thing that gets you into trouble.

I was brought up that if you have nothing nice to say then DON'T say anything, just a tip.

i'm not in trouble, i'm having fun.
If people only ever said 'nice' things and pointed out the positives of everything in discussions, don't you think the world would be inbalanced, boring, tame, and just generally balkan?

Ah c'mon, it hasn't been the whole forum.

Anyways, what's this fixation with dancing?  What's happened to appreciating music by listening to it?

I can understand that you want something that moves you emotionally, or that you can connect to in a visceral sense, but why does it have to make you wanna shake your booty?

Be careful, young man, you're heading down a terrible path that could end with you liking hip hop. I see DJ-ing in your future if you don't stop that nonsense right now.

Quite agree, but some statements you make actually just make you look stupid. Only trying to help. Opinions are GREAT, statements (when you obviously have NO experience in the context) are NOT.

I will finish with that as am NOT in the mood for any kind of argument.
I read your posts at times and scratch my head a laff.
I just suggest if you would like to be taken a little more seriously that you listen and read more and not making sweeping statements which you cannot back up.

Haha the dancing thing was just a joke dude; but seriously a good song that moves yu emotionally and physically is better than a good song that just moves yu emotionally right?... i think. I like to be able to move to music whatever, i'm a big fan of straight-ahead 4:4 rhythm. Go on; turn up your noses

The difference, (obviously your schooling is'nt up to much so would not hold out on the Porsche) is "I think.........." or "In my opinion........." is WAY different than "that is............." or "I know.............".

Nah, not IMO.  Besides, "better" is such a nebulous term when it comes to personal taste.

Look, I'm all in favour of 4/4 rock.  But slow songs can be more powerful than ones with a good beat.

School is over-rated anyhow.

I think it's the 'humble' part that some people are taking issue with.  Heh.  A sig doesn't make up for the wording of a post.

But anyways.  :)
