New BC Rich classic NJ series, WOW!
« on: May 27, 2006, 05:59:51 PM »
BC Rich unleashed their new Classic NJ series. These are so much better looking than the old ones. Maple neck thru, nato sides. The natural one looks very 70's. Prices are between $500 and $700.

I think I want one.

$500 - $700, make that £500 - £700 once they hit UK shores.  Still though, for a thru-neck guitar, it's a decent enough price.

I want the red one, they just remind me of early Slayer

I've seen them they have some in a guitar store I go to, they RRP is something like 950 or something and in the store they are reduced down too 469 or something crazy like that.

I think it's a real shame that when you think BC Rich you think of cheap ultra pointies like the Warlock and Beast, when their seventies designs (Bitch, mockingbird, eagle etc) are actually quite nice guitars.

Yep, whenever I normally think of BC Rich, I think of posers with slipknot guitars

I love them apart from the separate tailpiece and t-o-m. I prefer the wraparounds.  That said, they are an amazing price for a neck though.  I've seen then at $499 on ebay.  There is an original out there that I am watching, at the moment it is still affordable, but I don't think it will stay that way!

Nato is eastern mahogany, or so they say.

@ Sambo: I sure want one but it's not a priority. I first want (need) a Gretsch.

BC Rich kinda became a victim of their own designs. The Bitch was designed to accomidate a 10 string design with 4 tuners at the back. After that they designed some other radical shapes, the Mockingbird being the first. The radical designs were quickly adopted by the metal scene but it seriously harmed their image of being a serious guitar builder.

Apparently it's a cheap Eastern mahogany http://www.johnsongtr.com/Tips.90.0.html
It's like a softer mahogany.
Does anyone know if it's a bar-stewardisation of "Nyatoh" , an Indonesian redwood used as a cheap alternative to teak?

I think that what harmed their image of being a serious guitar builder most is building piece of cr@p guitars in the far east.
