OK,
it's pissing with rain here, I am bored and need my mind taken off of stuff due to my ailing father.
Sooo,
I am pretty resigned to an Engl Blackmore head (not getting into it :P).
But what cab to go with it?

Engl 2x12
Engl 4x12

Or............

Open to suggestions PLEASE.

Cleans are cool but most of my time will be bone crunching HEAVY stuff (think Sabbath to Pantera). I "hope" to find a band (once settled back in Ole Blighty) that will welcome a 36yo fogey with goatee beard and short (maybe soon to be shaved) hair/head. And ROCK out!

Anyways, gimme some examples please, stuff I CAN source/buy in/from UK and NOT needing a Lotto Win :)

Nick

Yeah need to ask :)

Hear conflicting reports of 4x12 and 2x12 (cannot remember where though).

I am an OLD Bass player that has discovered 2 extra strings ;) So all quite new for me :)

Just looking for input on a good choice.

The Blackmore is a 4 channel head 100 watt head with an ECC 83 preamp and 4x 5881 power amp.

Just wondering on a good cab. Some say Engl is truly matched so their cabs are best (makes sense) but what other possibilities?

Guess it is hard as you need to know the head to have a good cab. opinion? Dunno.

I'm partial to full stacks, but there's an interesting cab made by Ear Candy. They make a 2x12 with the internal volume of a 4x12. All accounts of these cabs has been extremely favourable.

Interesting Ben, and they do ship international.
Any soundclips? cannot find any on site?
Also, you heard any personally or recommend one? BuzzBomb sounds interesting.

Well, I've never playing Engl stuff myself, so I can only say that I like 4x12s better than 2x12s generally.

LOL!  Ummm . . .   :P

Honestly, I have only spent something like 10 minutes over at HC in the last 3 years.  It's nuts there.  :?

I find it amusing to follow the "no such thing as a free lunch" Zakk Wylde Epi/357 Chopper saga there :)

Can't go wrong with a Marshall 4x12 to my ears but there are others who swear by the likes of Bogner & Mesa cabs.

I'm thinking of getting a Marshall 'Mode 4' cab & putting some V30s in - the guys from DOWN were using those cabs when I saw them last Thursday and they sounded great.

The Mode 4 cabs are bigger than standard Marshall 4x12s (same size as the bigger Mesa ones) so you're gonna get a bigger bass end for that metal chunk.

Hmmm, yeah Marshall is easier to get "good" one than Marshall head I guess.

Hey Nick, like you I am a bass player and I find those 2 extra strings are great for slicing cheese on.

Indeed, much better received now I can slice the cheese rather than "cut cheese" :)

th laney tt cab is pretty decent on a bang for buck basis over here, nick. shop around and you can get one for the low £300's...

4 vintage 30's too.

A little more rock voiced than metal, to my ears, but worth a look. I have one. I think the engl vintage cab was better for metal, though. but about twice as much cash.
