TOOL - 10,000 Days
« on: June 03, 2006, 03:34:37 PM »
So who hasn't seen all the hype that's surrounded this album?

I picked up a copy the other day, and I must say that I am deeply unimpressed with yet another TOOL album... :(

Great musicians, great vocals, I just find it to be another boring TOOL album. It doesn't seem to go anywhere.

Discuss...

(Yeah, yeah, I have no taste, awesome playing etc, etc... That is not what I'm saying at all. I just think the songs are boring, which makes for a boring album. The playing and musicianship are as awesome as ever, but there's more to an album than great playing, the songs just don't go anywhere...)

I wasn't that impressed the first time I listened to it, but after a dozen or so listens it's really growing on me.

An album with hidden depths I think.

I really, really like the album. It's certainly not as immediate as Aenima; but I quite enjoy the way the album tries to just pulverise you into submission! It has some great riffs - Jambi is awesome - and the slower, more 'dirgey' songs are, in my opinion, good within the context of the album. Yeah, I like it.

I quite like it actually. I think that as an album it has greater variety in texture than Lateralus and in csome respects is closer to Aenima. There are some great riffs, and the songs aren't bad at all from a composition perspective. I think a good solid album all in all :)

I thought the same at first but after listening to it I find it gets better and better.

It's one of those records that doesn't sound very impressive the first few listens but once you get into it you start to appreciate it more.

Jambi is probably my favourite song on it atm.

The first time I listened to it I was pretty unimpressed, but it grew on me pretty quick, I have been listening to it in the car quite a bit and really picking up on the riffs and grooves. I like it.

My fav. song is probably Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman) & Rosetta Stoned. (They lead into each other)
"What frequency are you getting? Is it noise or sweet, sweet music?"
