Nice :twisted: Has a slightly different sound to previous Slayer stuff, can't quite put my finger on it.

It is that, for sure, Joe.

There was a great review of that album when it came out "God hates us all, and the new Slayer album proves just how much"

It's not bad. The bass is a bit higher in the mix than usual, but it does sound much more "Hell awaits" than anything they've done in years. Lyrics are much to articulately sung though. I prefer when Araya barks, spits, gulders and growls meself....

i think slayer just tell stories from the 'other' side of religion and the world.

like Angel Of Death or one of the the new ones which is apparantly about the Terrorists point of view on 9/11.

I dont think they glorify anything, just tell it how they imagine the 'evil' side think... people like the 9/11 terrorists and the such all had valid (in their opinions\beliefs) reasons to do what they did, slayer just tap into that and people DONT like to think about it.

It makes people think more than they want to about things they dont understand and percieve to be wrong\evil (if they can get past the initial shock) .. and thats one thing people in general DO NOT like doing.

Personally, i couldnt tell you much about the lyrics for most black\death\any song that doesnt have a sing along chorus.. i like it for the energy and music.. lyrics never been important for me!

the lyrical style (vocal rhythm) reminds me of the 'Reign In Blood' era. The guitars sound more organic if that word can ever be applied to Slayer guitar tones (heh). It sound much more like a guitar straight into a JMP Marshall head than previous stuff they've recorded.

fwiw, I don't know why everyone hates the last record - I think its their best work to date and I've been a fan since RIB. I was dissapointed by Divine Intervention but Diabolus In Musica was MUCH better - God Hates Us All was just OMFG time :lol:

In fact i was always a bit anti-slayer cuz it just sounded like anger, until one powerpoint assembly my biology teacher gave about how we're all gonna get bird flu and die, that had raining blood as the soundtrack song, and i rocked out. THAT is the way to start your day!
