i think people really need to consider the different age ranges on here though. Older folk might prefer the forum was left to the older folk, so they can have their mature conversations about tone, and the younger folk are just having fun talking to anyone, about anything... It's difficult, but yu've gotta live with it on the forum, and in life... What do ya think? lol

I see what you mean, but it really isn't about age...it's more about maturity, in all honesty. In real life, I've known 25 year-olds who've been the most immature people you could come across, and I've met 17 year-olds who've had their heads screwed on really well. I apologise for using an example of someone on this forum (and I hope you don't mind me mentioning you) but Bainzy is 17 I think. And he posts some great, helpful posts. It's not strictly about age, you know?

Gibson needs to do better with their wording yes no doubt.

They also need to get back to the drawing board on their pick-ups too. How many guitars do they have that have the damn 498T/490R pick-ups in them? Hell! Their Customs have them and their Studios. ???

Here is my question. How can a cheaper model Gibson sport a set, and the higher priced Custom? They made the Burstbuckers for the Standard specifically, and then went and put the things in a Studio too?

"Yeah this Mustang has the new engine that adds 100hp and 300ft.lbs. of torque. We also have this same engine, specifically designed for our Mustang, in this VW Bug."

WTF????

Anyone see my frustration besides me? Anyone?

i think that you've almost got it there, cept i think that it's more that when you're still young, you have moments of immaturity and moments of maturity. It's usually completely unpredictable, but i know that i can be completely sensible for most of a conversation, then at the end just go weird and say something completely stupid, and that's primarily what makes me immature....

Sure, I mean, I'm only 21. But it's just about checking what you say, I guess. It's like, the thought process goes from your head, and through your nerves, and your fingers until you type it and then hit 'enter' and band! It's on the screen. So, even though it can be unpredictable for a thought to pop into your head, it's a little different for you to actually write something and then post it on a public forum - which is why I sometimes get bamboozled by what people write, and think to myself 'Why did they write this?', you know?

It's nothing personal against anyone here, I used to be bemused at the off-topic things that people used to post, but sometimes when you get so many bemusement turns to frustration.

I thought i was pretty well behaved for a young person on this forum.
I think i'm still the youngest here at 14?

Anyway, magnetic pickups?!
Good lord, i simpmt must get some of those!
With all their magnetic goodness.

EDIT:

Just reading back a few posts, and i remember when i first joined the forum, i noticed how friendly and serious it was, but there have been a few members, (not mentioning any names *cough*), whom i think are a little too hyperactive in their posting. I think i side with the older members on here, we need to keep this forum mature and sensible, but with the original comedy of the Time Out section intact.

. . .  or 'ROFLTMDGADHG' or whatever this means.

Well, I was gonna say that it means 'rolling on the floor with a guitar that's not in standard tuning', but the H threw me.

I better post something serious now, so that serious Willo doesn't get grumpy with me.  ;)

*clears throat*

You definitely have a valid point, Ian, especially when it comes to threads being highjacked, like Brow's was.  That was a bit rude, I guess.  It's also good to recognise the distinction between being serious and being mature.  There are plenty of sites around full of people who take themselves way too seriously, but I wouldn't call them mature at all.  I avoid those sites.

I like that this place has people who are having fun, even if it's childish sometimes.  I think the good still outweighs the bad.  And at least we don't have the all-too-common problem of people being insulting and  very arrogant.  So I don't think that we need to keep the banter out of serious threads completely, but perhaps we ought to try to make sure that we don't highjack the thread with it.

They're my bleary thoughts for this morning.  :)

Am I the only one who's noticed this thread has sorta been hijacked by a discussion about not hijacking people's threads?

Anyways, while i'm posting i may as well join in - i agree that a lot of the time, stuff said in posts could/should be in a PM instead...and i try to do that where i can...however, if there's no discussion between people and every post is purely informative then it could get dull quite quickly (or maybe not)...

Social interaction makes us human and helps the forum to grow...But it needs to be in moderation, and while being considerate to others :)

and ON topic, there's nothing wrong as advertising something as what it is - however obvious it may be...i read a description a while back where the pickups were described as microphonic - now that's stupid :P
