Good for you! It's a great feeling hearing your guitar through a valve amp!  8)

Following my last post, I went to check out the DC-3. The owners description of mint condition could only apply to POLO mints, however, as it was full of holes. cr@pped out valves, ripped vinyl, knackered pots, the works. As a result, I'm now buying the VC-30 2x12. I'll be gigging it on thursday, so I'll let ye know how it goes...

Too much time at UG? What actually happened there to make them de-mod you? Is it the same as the thing (that I still haven't been told) that made them ban Algee? I wasn't there that day and then everyone was up in arms and i don't know why - sorry for hijacking this thread btw

another proud owner of a VC15 here  -I took a chance on EBay with one and got it for £200.

Sounds fantastic at bedroom and gig levels in my opinion - although whenever possible I prefer that the volume is set controllably and the amp is mic'ed.

ah, ok, thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

I tried a 15 watt fender blues junior, a 40 watt fender hot rod deluxe, and a 30 watt peavey classic 30 recently, and the blues junior sounded best- the HRD was too prisitine at the low volumes, but the peavey also sounded pretty good.

EDIT: oh yeah, you could always see if your local shop would price match- that's probably the best option.

"look, i want to buy from you, but this other shop is doing it for £250..."

If you are thinking of a Blues Jr (I love mine) try this page as it covers revalving the Jr for differing tones and volumes. As well as tweaking older ones

cheers rob. I really liked it, but I'd probably like an amp with slightly more pre-amp gain... also, it's a little similar in tone to my engl's more vintage channels- I'd prefer to go for something with a slightly different tone...

I'll look into that link though.

I get great clean and overdriven tones from my Laney LH50R. They really are an underated brand of amp in the marketplace.
