HEY, DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THE WEBER MASS LITE 100, AND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE REGULAR MASS 100?  THE LITE IS 100 DOLLARS CHEAPER, BUT I CAN'T TELL WHY ON THEIR WEBERSITE.  ?

Have you done a search? I seem to recall this thread being done a few times.

Have you been to the weber website? I didn't read all the information, but the difference became apparent from the pictures. The Lite has two knobs on the front to attenuate highs and lows. The Un-Lite one has a tone stack and other controls also...

Yes, I might be dense,  and not looking well at hte site, but Can it still handle a 100 watt amp?. And why does that one diff. make it 100 $ cheaper?

neither of them can handle a 100 watt amp pushed to distortion...the amp is rated 100 watts clean, when distorted the power is more than that

Weber recommend allowing half the power again to make sure there's no damage - therefore you want a 150 watt capable attenuator

O.k, I did notice that, so I guess i'll have to get  the 150w, cuz my Rivera knucklehead is a loud 100.  They don't make a lite 150 unfortunately. thanks for the help.  And T.O. , I took your advice and did a search here.  Never done one before.  Good Idea!   Thanks again,  but if anyone has any more two cents on attenuators, feel free.

Maybe you could consider the THD hotplate - it's better

EDIT: Better is subjective, especially as i've never tried both, i pressed submit without finishing the sentence...

What i meant to say is that it's worth considering as another option, and according to others it's better

Mass is good, i have the 100w regular one (with all the controls on).

There was a big Harmony Central thread where some guy compard all the attenuators together.. he found the Mass and the Hotplate were pretty much the same as far as altering the tone (eg they dont change it much even on max attenuation).

if anything the Mass was 'better' as its switchable OHMS (hotplate isnt), has more tweak controls (tone stack, high\low filter + 3 way treble boost\cut) has 2 speaker outs and a DI line out with tone controls and costs around 2/3 the price of the hotplate.. well actually my Mass was $130 /£70ish inc postage (no VAT) whereas the the hotplate is £160-£250 depending on what Ebay holds for you!!

The KOCH loadbox is meant to be good and tweakable but expensive, as is the Dr Z Airbrake.

The Marshall PowerBrake is by far the worst as far as user opinions go.. badly 'sucks tone' and can overheat and fail.. and doesnt offer as much -db range as the others.

Weber Mass everytime for me.. Maybe the Koch one if i ever had money to burn (or a London Power scaling setup installed by a tech..)

www.harmony-central.com is the best place to start for opinions.. but take them all with a grain of salt (as they say) ;)

^ a crate of salt is probably better :P

But i never really needed an attenuator as i can just turn me ENGL down and it still sounds great (i bet you're jealous)

EDIT: the people that promote the hotplate are probably just annoyed they overpaid for it (if the weber is just as good) and refuse to acknowledge the fact they coulda paid less money therefore will promote it as the best thing ever

Thanks, guys.  I just got a credit card opened up today.  Ouch! it's burning my hand!  must buy something, now!  I'm picking the weber for more features, specially the ohm changer.    Cheers to everyone. Hopefully have some IT/IT/Nailbomb clips coming soon.
