Well,
as am still kinda in a daze from recent events, and as UK is almost a foreign country to me still at this point, am asking you to keep an eye out for me :)

Not tomorrow but in not too distant future, want an Explorer.

Am not talking 'vintage' £1,000+ but a good Gibson or top ESP (or even good custom job). Two fullsize 'buckers.

I am going to sell my Ernie Ball Axis and Zoom MRS8 soon (maybe Boss GT8 also) and this will do it (although not necessary).

Anyway,appreciate any tips/info.

Thanks guys.

Dave,
from bit of research (not easy on dial-up in UK with everything else am doing) seems they go for about 500-700 used.

I reckon £700 for a 'good' one. I am not adverse to bit of wear (as have plans), good player/neck is most important.

Wow Nick!

I was round at Jon's (Feline) two weeks ago and I was shown a blank Explorer body - beautiful virgin wood - ready to be taken to the next stage.

It is just like the one Jon made for Tim and it doesn't have an owner yet!

Check Tim's out, it's a beauty - then maybe have a chat with Jon.

The world is your lobster with this as it is just a blank ready for a vision and some love.

(I'm not on commission BTW!!!)

Dave, that's real nice (good price too, seen em before, but not in person).
Just not feeling the whole 'overseas shipping/buying' thing right now.
Dunno, what to say/explain, just not in a kinda 'hassle' mood with recent events.
In fact that IS what I wanna do to an explorer.
I reckon can get a Gibbo, make my own scratchplate, move toggle and eliminate a pot, voila! Maybe anyway.
Have found (online anyway) a '90 white (turned creme) Explorer for £650 which if in good order (as it looks/they state) would be ok. Need to really sell my Axis first though.

Do you mean this one Dave?
Mahogany body & neck with ebony fingerboard
3 way switch will be at back with the volume contols rather than on the horn- very Hetfield style

Keep the spec simple and it wouldn't be that expensive
Factor in that it would already come with BKPs of your choice and that effectively saves you £200 on what you would percieve of it's price
www.felineguitars.com - repairs & custom built
Great fretwork!

Can ya pm me with an estimate and build (thus far) details, as in woods, joints etc.

Hetfield is basically what was going for, pretty transparent really was'nt it :)

Love his Ken Lawrence and his Gibbo 'Rusty'and ESP Elk.

Lemme know anyway,
Nick

can call ya if it is easier to chat (now am back in ole Blighty).

Thanks for the thoughts/looking guys but have just ordered/purchased a 1990 White Gibbo Explorer.

The price (talked down) was/is VERY VERY good and could'nt not do the deal.

Saved enough to order some BKP's for it asap

Nick

p.s. will ask in another thread and pretty sure know the answer but, for Hetfield tone? MM's?
