Im thinking of getting hold of some recording equipment (mostly for home use so i can post some of my new BKP clips 8) ).

Anyway, this looks good but has anyone had any experience with it?

Recording quality?
Effect quality?

If you are after quick hassle free recording then this unit is for you, sounds are pretty cool, if you are purely after recording then try Guitar Rig 2 , it comes with a floor unit for wah stuff and switching and IMHO sounds a bit more convincing then the Pod. Both are cool though. Go for it.

Great models/effects
Good drum tracks
Easy/good recording via USB

CHEAP at £99!

Love mine (when I can get a power supply to use her, darn ac/ac adaptors!)

I used to use the Tonelab SE, very very nice, speaker sims don't do it THAT well though.

But what is the best recording gear I bought was a Palmer The Junction DI, which is a frequency corrected box between amp and speaker, sounds amazing and is damn simple to setup.

sure it works for a combo. this also has a speaker jack out, just plug the speaker cable into one end of the palmer and another speaker cable between combo and palmer...

I've got a PODxt, and it does sound good IMO, although it's a good idea to spend some time working on your settings through both speakers and headphones.

Haven't used to USB direct recording function as I have a 4 I/O card with a break out box that allows me to plug both outputs from the PODxt and record from there.

The M-Audio Black Box is supposed to be very good, as is the VOX Tonelab series of modellers.

Cheers Sambo (and others)...well im not realy sure how to go about recording. I know there will obviously be instructiions and stuff but what...do you just plug ur guitar lead into ur comp and go?

I just used one on my last Nailbomb track in the players forum. There's a lot of debate on the Line6 forum about the 'fizziness' of a lot of the high gain amps and many people say the POD2.0 (not XT) is smoother and warmer so if you want a simple good recording unit that might be a good bet, but the flexibility of the XT range is great especially if you plan to hook it up to a computer and use the Line6 edit software.
As regards the fizziness, yeah it bothered me and I found it hard to get a good sound and spent ages tweaking, but when I downloaded other peoples patches it sounded great!
But note, Line6 doesn't work with new Intel Macs (like mine!) so if you have one be prepared to use a PC or older mac to use the editing software and you'll need a recording interface instead of using the USB.

well jonesy... the way i do it is this:

guitar-->XT Live-->USB cable--->computer--->audacity...

works great, although i dont do much recording with it because i never have the time.... i just use it for home practice... which its superb for...

it is great for recording though... and if you getting one JUST for recording.. maybe a Bean one would be better... then maybe the 2.0 going by what gingataff said.

another thing about what he said; totally agree about the fizziness... but to be honest id have taken it back if i could only use the presets... compared to peoples own custom sounds you can download... the presets are TERRIBLE... of course you get the odd good one... but theres such a difference in quality between stock and edited sounds so its hard to judge it on the presets...

like i said, if you have any specific questions, just ask away.
