Bare Knuckle Apache recordings
« on: June 29, 2006, 01:35:33 PM »
Hi all, just found out about this forum and registered. Some time ago I ordered a set of Apache Strat pickups for my Strat/Jazzmaster bastard and have been incredibly pleased with them. I just recorded some songs with this guitar and thought I'd post them here. Let me know what you think.

Really like the tone-sounds huge but warm.

What's your recording/gear set up?

Man!  That is some beautiful  sound!   Love your playing/writing style.  Very Therapeutic Sound.  Not that i'm sick, except for G.A.S.    That's some of the prettiest clean sounds on the forum.   Love the odd time sigs too.  If i didn't have Apaches on the way already, this clip would have sealed the deal.   Keep it up.  Send more clips! ,   Lifted

Really great tones and playing, you might want to move it to the players room as more people will listen to it there. Good stuff.

Excellent- what a debut! Apaches are just wonderful. I agree with Steve, if this was in the players forum you will probably get more listeners. Welcome to the forum.

Excellent - really great clean sound and playing.

I've got a set and think they are fantastic. Very versatile too - also sound good on higher gain settings.

Thank you all for the wonderful feedback. I've tried just about every Fender Custom Shop single coil set but these Apaches are in a league of their own.

The gear I used for the recordings is my Jazzmaster/Strat bastard (with Apaches) through an Atlantis echo and Lexicon MPX110 (reverb) into a Fender Dual Showman 2x15 (for guitar + reverb) and a Fender Quad Reverb (for echo only).

Below is a pic of me with my Jazzmaster/Strat. I've had it built by a luthier here in Brussels.

Wow, great tone.  Your playing style reminds me a little bit of the newest Thrice cd, and that's a really good thing.

Is it just me or is that a Burns style headstock you have on that thing?

EDIT: The whole neck looks like it coulda been cannibalised from a Burns Marquee?

You're right, I asked them to do a Burns style headstock, but slanted. The rest of the neck shape is actually copied off a Jazzmaster neck I really liked. All pickups are slanted at the same angle as a Strat bridge pickup, thought it would look nice with the "offset" Jazzmaster body. It has 3 on/off Jaguar style slide switches (doesn't get much easier than that) and no tone/volume controls (as you might have noticed).
