Received my Mule set (A4) today!

Put them immediatly in my PRS Custom 22 (a bit bright and punchy axe).

One word: a-we-some!

This babies are incredibly versatile. Handle high-gain like no others PAF I tried. The more you you give them gain, the more they sing and scream harmonics! Even my VHT Pitbull CLX on lead channel with full gain: no muds!

The bridge is biting without any harshness, no mid spike but no hollow too. The bass are pretty impressive, the right balance between round and tight.
Instant gratification. The clean are pretty good too for a bridge unit.

The neck is smooth with more rounded and generous bass (neck position   ). Plenty of mids (for a neck PU) which give body to the sound. If you like mid-scooped neck PU, I think the Stormy Monday is a better deal (matter of taste). Under hi gain it is very smooth and "round", almost liquid. My Riff Raff neck has more of an edge (to compare). On clean channel, it's beautifull.

Another stunning thing: it's incredibly easy to get pinch harmonics. Because it's a lower output than your regular screamin PU, you have to fight a bit more (I love that). In return, harmonics jumped out the board  easily. I can imagine playing some Zakk Wylde stuff with a good distorted channel and a good overdrive/boost.

For me, they blow away the WCR Darbursts I owned a few months ago. The DB were treblier, more agressive, with few mids. The Mule has definately more "body", more sweetness and more versatility. They give "more", simple as that.

I noticed immediatly that I was not using the tone pot with the Mule (always on full). I explain: my others guitars has NB bidge + Riff Raff neck or Bill Lawrence L-500. All three has plenty of treble, so my amp settings are fitted to that.
With the Mule, I did not touch to the tone pot. But an idea came to my mind: I have in stock a Q-filter bought from Bill Lawrence, that you can use to virtually lower the impedance and give an acoustic tone to the guitar or transform a HB in a pseudo-single coil). I decided to try the Q-filter and put the 0.022 cap away.
When you turn the Q filter pot,  treble become as sweet as velvet,  mids are scooped and the bass become rounder, more acoustic.

I tried it with the Mule..... Perfect!  :D  Imagine the sound of a piezzo and you are close to the result. It's seems I play some EA guitar. Pure joy! With distortion, it's not very useful (the tone is rounder, less bite but a bit strange), but with clean it's unbelievable (no I can't make clip for the moment, sorry...)
This Q-filter works great with HB. In splitted mode it works, but it's not so usefull.

Well that's all for the moment.
My Irish Tour set is waiting for my G&L Legacy.
Next match: BKP Irish Tour set vs WCR SR set. (a very good set indeed, I sold the Darburst but keep the SR set.... 'til now!   )
