LesPaul 3-way swich vs 4 conductor
« on: June 03, 2005, 08:59:41 AM »
Hi,

Need some help here... I´ve got a 3-way LesPaul swich which means: Neck(humbucker), Neck+Bridge(humbucker+humbucker), Bridge(humbucker). Right?

Can I with my "Crawlers" (4 con) be able to do this:
Neck(humbucker), Neck+Bridge(humbucker+coiltap or maby coiltap+coiltap), Bridge(humbucker) :?:

You'll need a different switch, Dimarzio part number 1111 I think is the one you need. Otherwise it's push pull pots!

Ok, I almost thought so...

But will it fit in my Epiphone Heritage Les Paul? (i´ve got a Gibson orginal swich) I should be glad if there were an almost identical switch but 5-way instead of 3-way.

Wierd question maby ("why does the guy don´t by a strat?")
But I´ve played on a couple Ibanez that had only 2 humbuckers but with 5-way switch, and they sounded real nice clean. I found it quite useful and would be cool on a Les Paul  8)

An option is like you said; push/pull pots but I wan´t a "fast" solution (just hit it while you play, like I do now)

Hmmm. doesn´t Jimmy Page have this solution/option with push/pull pots?

I can never remember how the Page switching works, but it covers most options, but it is not fast!!

The Dimarzio switch was used on the old Ibanez John Petrucci model. You can have normal humbuckers in positions 1 and 3, and then the middle position you can have both screw coils for a tele type tone, or both slug coils which sounds more strat like.

You may also be able to add a push pull to pre-select which coils are tapped. in the middle position.

That's the fastest way to some nice clean tones.

Don't know of a 5way to fit your Epiphone, also I don't know if teh Dimarzio switch will fit

Thank you for your help.

I´m gonna talk to my guitartech. if he knows about the Dimarzio switch, otherwise it´ll stay 3-way or maby push/pull if the pots will fit my org. knobs. I think they are rare (black heritage modell was only for the Swedish market? and no longer avaiable?)
