Shred Recommendations?
« on: July 07, 2006, 02:18:53 AM »
I've been interested in buying a pair of bareknuckles for a while now but I can't seem to make up my mind...
I'm looking for that shred tone that can also do metal.  Something very similar to Paul Gilbert and Steve Vai.

I saw somewhere after doing a search that Holy Divers would work but Nailbombs would too.

any suggestions?

Welcome. Definitely look into the Nailbomb. It is very similiar to that classic DiMarzio sound of yore, but with higher resolution and more mids than you would find in most pickups made today.

I don't think that the Holy Diver is a good pickup for that uber shred style, but that's just my opnion. Others will chime in I'm sure to point out my flaws. ;)

Hi there

I would definately say go for the nailbombs, they sound great with loads of distorsion and also with just a bit. They have the edge which I really like, you know a biting tone like Lynch. I would say the nailbomb is very versatile and its a good grounding to build from. So your sound is more determined by your amp sounds etc.

Cheers
