Unholy friends.
how are yah!?
i just opened my 5150 today to check where the tubes were made in..
So...
the they are FIVE 12AX7EH ELECTRO HARMONICS. it has a number on it .. 00 12. don´t knwo what that means. maybe the date!? and they are made in russia.all of them.
and FOUR 6L6WXT SOVTEK. made in russia too. numbers are 01 07.

what kind of infos do you have for me guys!?

Are those tubes goods? bads?more or less?!
old? needs replacements?

Both brands you've mentioned are pretty good quality. They're pretty common because alot of people buy them as they're considered the 'industry standard' to most people. You're tubes won't need changing unless you've lost alot of gain in your sound or you're signal is starting to break up. If everything is fine, then you won't need to change them.

the problem is.. i didn´t played ANY ALL tube amp before...
so, i don´t know how a 5150 SHOULD sound, unless for the soundclips i´ve HEARD.
i believe it is sounding OK.
but i think it has less distortion than the crate amp i had, a gx 80 watts model.
i mean, to have equally distortion levels and equally sustain.. i need to put a overdrive pedal in front of it.
but i guess it´s common right!? normal etc.

Are those numbers stamped in to the metal base of the tube?

I know very little about valves, but they might just be the voltage reading so the amp can be biased correctly... or something.. :?

wow, someone that thinks the 5150 need MORE gain - most people tend to think they have an insane amount already. most people tend to tame them down a bit.

You could see it a tech could bias the amp. I've heard of alot of guys that get the 5150 biased some how which gives it that insane tone. I remember a 5150 i played through a while back and thinking that there wasn't much gain, so maybe it could be that it needs rebiasing.

Did you buy the amp from new?

If not then you could probably do with a tube change, you can learn how to bias yourself, but make sure you take great care as you can easily get yourself killed.

i bought it almost new
i went to the tech here, he´s an authorized ROLAND here in my city
he said that setting up the bias, will not make the sound WARMER... and it will juyst distort earlier and "EAT my tubes earlier" too.

Thats if he sets it hotter, if he was to set it colder then you'd need to turn the amp up more to really start pushing the tubes, it will also mean the tubes would last longer.

Something isn't right with the amp anyway, 5150's are known to have extreme amounts of gain, far more than the create you mentioned.

I recomend a full retube and bias.

Getting the bias set right on an amp with as much gain as the 5150 isn't as crucial as something like a plexi or other lower gain amp (in my experience).

Saying that though, I would definately get the bias checked as if its too hot you'll go through 6L6s very quickly and the bass end may become overly saggy. The amp may hiss/hum badly with the bias too hot as well.

If the bias is too cold, the amp will not have as much punch and can sound thin & lifeless.

If the tubes are not red-plating and it sounds good to you just forget about it - biasing ain't the big deal people make it out to be.

The problem IS.. my room has a LOT of reverb and.. all this AL TUBE thing is pretty NEW to me.
i never played an all tube amp, i never played a 4x12 , i never played a celestion equipped one before.
so, i don´t have a clue.. ahahahaha but i´m learning.
the tubes always get kinda Orange, kinda Blue when i´m playing.
but the Brightness could be due to the room reverb.
did you see any of the videos that i am plying the 5150 !?
they where recorded with a Sony dsc p52 digital camera in video mode.
