Hi, I have recently asked for any tips on how to get a Peter Green Sound from my Marshall as I have now had my pickups made like Greenys.

I was now wondering if anyone had any tips on amp settings for Gary Moore's sounds

I am using a my 'Greeny' Gibson Les Paul and a Marshall TSL122

To be honest the best thing you can do is just play around till you find something you like coz its always personal preference really. Although I think I've read somewhere that Gary Moore uses a Marshall Guv'nor (old black one) for lead boosts.

I have got a fairly good Gary Moore sound already as I am normally fairly good at setting my tones to get the sounds I want.

But you know when you just have a brain freeze and nothing sounds quite right although you have been using the same settings for a while, well that's kind of what I am experiencing if that makes sense

Talking about famous people calling in shops reminds me of an incident which happened to my sister-in-law who worked part time in a small newsagent/corner shop in Tetbury. Her boss was looking at the back of a young woman who was trying to decide what sort of crisps to buy from the large display at the end of the shop. As he walked past her he said "Oooh I think you're the Salt n Vinegar type love". The lady burst into laughter and turned around and said "It's cheese and onion actually". It's was Princess Diana who (in happier times) lived a couple of miles up the road at Highgrove House. Apparently he turned a brighter red than the tomatoes which were on special offer :oops:

He plays DSL100, which is a little more punchy in the lower fat mids than the TSL which has a more numetalish eqing.

I would try to stay in the crunch channel and give a fair bit of bass and mids (especially he has more mids than other players) and take it easy on the presence pot. A cranked amp and an overdrive pedal will then be key to get his tone. But if you listen carefully you will realise that he creates a lot of dirt with the way he plays, so pay attention to detail and work on your fingers, not only the EQ :)
