Probably the same as in mahogany. Maybe a tad brighter.

Korina is very closely related to mahogany. The colour and weight is lighter.

Feline, R2E and the other luthier forum members will probably correct me on this but I think Korina is a loose term for any old bits of wood Gibson had knocking around when they were doing R&D so it's not a specific type of timber.
Most 'Korina' guitars I've played have been very punchy and open sounding, and have responded great to lower gain pickups.

The correct name would be (African) Limba.

There are two types of it: Black Korina and White Korina (to stay within Gibson terms).

How do they handle hi-gain p'ups e.g. Nailbomb, etc d'you know?

I used to have an Epi Korina Explorer with EMG81's. Sounded good enough.

Korina is indeed Limba from Africa, and is related to mahogany.
Gibson and Hamer have made guitars of korina, but I've heard that Epiphone korina V/explorer aren't made of the real deal.
I have warmoth one-piece black limba hardtail jazzmaster with rosewood neck (no finish needed) and fingerboard. Unplugged it's loud and resonant, and with Mule set(A4) it sounds awesome! Very even, fat but clear,
great dynamics and sustain, and can really do anything from jazz to metal with right amp and attitude.

Felines Korina V has VH2s, which are a brighter pickup, brighter than the Nailbomb to my ears, just quieter. It sounded great....not too bright, nice balance but with a great midrange and tight bass.

I'm guessing the Nailbombs would sound great. They work great in Basswood and alder/maple guitars, so Korina should sound sweeter! :P

I'd be inclined to agree with HJM here.
Korina is a generic trade name and what passes as Korina (Limba, Idigbo) does have a zingy almost acoustic like tone.
The VH2s in my V sound great - a bit bright (which is the nature of the VH2 and also of the timber) but notr overly so. I bet the nailbomb would rock.
