A good week/weekend!
« on: July 23, 2006, 09:01:55 AM »
I got a Carpet for the lounge in my new flat Thursday and got it half price as I wanted to fit it myself (an old trade of mine). Friday night my brother's interest in racing (analyisng everything on the net/forums/papers/radio!) Came to 'Fruition'  as Estate Agents like to say!    We put £8 each on a win double and it came in at £272 each! Got drunk, went to work in the morning, fitted the carpet, got a 'bit' sweaty! Went to the pub again and a curry!

Just got a shift the stuff back in to the lounge and I can get my bed/music room back to normal.  :)

I know what you mean mate it's not nice when you get some problems.

Just keep plodding through and you will come out the other side better for it and It'll just become a distant memory.

Wish moving from one country to another was as easy, including different citizens involved in the family move :(
Good for you though :)

It's all been in recent years Dave. The rest of my life is Bad luck!

So what was this job with Planet Rock? It sounds very cool even if it didn't work out.

It was going to involve taking charge of their online brand eg: The Website.

The site is crucial for brand development and is a rudderless ship at the moment. I made a solid pitch based on incremental growth.

Unfortunatly... just like an Olympic bid, another candidate pitched more ambitiously and they went with them. As I said in my other post... I have my doubts about over-promissing and under-delivering, but I wish them luck as I enjoyed meeting the guys and just chating about great music.

Guess I'll have to go back to developing Fast Moving Consumer Goods! The joys of Soap Powder, Domestos and Dove.....

I'd rather do something I believe in but I'm not in a financial position to wait much longer.  :(  :(

It's a fantastic station isn't it! They have Nicky Horne on there. He used to work at Capitol Radio in the 70's on a slot in the evening called 'Your Mother Wouldn't Like It'. That was an education back then and Capitol were a reasonable station too. Things never stay that way with FM radio though.

Top man for having a go though Dave! Keep an eye on things and if the standards slip....

So websites is your bag is it. I bet you have to keep your finger on the pulse for that.

I love Whitesnake - When I get my recording gear (and my Holy Diver in a guitar) I'll be making many a Whitesnake/Dio influenced recording for you wonderful people to endure :P

Funny enough I'd never heard of Planet Rock until I went round to Feline to pick up my Vandenberg and Jon had it on in the background.
I thought it was a CD at first and then I saw it was a DAB radio!

I bought a DAB the next day and visited the website to see what the station was about.. saw the recruitment ad and bang.. just up my street.

I've been doing branding/communications for a mega-global marketing company for 5 years and have got "inside" most of the products you buy from the supermarket.

That has run it's course and I need to do something from the soul but there aint too much o'that going around these days.

Back to reality I suppose..
