Yeah, I played an Explorer once and it didn't feel natural to me - probably because I've been used to strat style guitars. Not played a dean cadillac, but what's the overall sound you're going for?

Ahh I'll go have a look at the spec :)

EDIT: It's a mahogany body and a mahogany set neck, so I'm sure it will get close to the LP sound even if it's not identical :drink:

They look much better than the Les Paul, more original looking...I think with the right BK's in there you could get a very Les Paul type sound if you wanted to

Here´s the guitar that i´ll put the pickups

I´m sure i´ll get the TRILOGY SUITE For the Neck.
i Loved the clips i downloads from the fellowe members of this forum.
And the bridge, i´m in doubt between a Nailbomb Or a Painkiller.
thats the reason(also $$$ reasons)that i´m waiting the site RevamP.
the charvel Lacks Mids. and lacks a bit of Bass.
it has a good High.
i man.. i had a Seymour Duncan Custom Custom (bass 3, middles 7, highs 7. High output) and although it has a very spongey/mush/not tight Bass , it has A very god middle and highs response(A II)
and then i sold it and bought a Custom 5(actually in my Fender)
A5 magnet. Bass 6, Middles 3, Highs 8.
and i really Felt the lack of Middles on this pickup.
so, i tested a DUNCAN DISTORTION and i didn´t like it. too much Harsh, raw sound, ..ACID Sound.. not enough TIGHT on the Bass.. and i really didn´t feel the EQ. Bass 5, middles 8, highs 9.
i felt more of the Custom Custom Middles and highs than the duncan distortion.
so, i left the Jackson Pickup on the bridge of my Charvel and put a FRANKENSTEIN double bobin Single coil on the neck.
So, i´m looking for a Pickup With Tight Bass(and a good amount of bass eq itself too, something like Bass 5 is good for me but a Noticeable one)
Crunchy Mids, and Singing Highs.
Q:)
Moderated/High Output is OK for me.. for a comparison.. Slightly More output
Than A Seymour Duncan Custom Custom .

And For The Neck, i guess i found my sound on the Trilogy Suite neck. at least for the soundclips i found here.
charvel is basswood body, maple/rosewood neck/fretboard.
Hails
JP

That's a beautiful guitar - what did it cost you? That paint job looks expensive...

ahahahah here in brazil , all guitars costs a lot. even the cheaper one´s
that´s a $%&#gin Shame.
but it wasn´t SOOOOOOOOOOOOO expensive like a USA charvel. and it´s not a bad quality chinese, indonesian, korean made one.. it´s a good quality Japan one.
but it´s from 80´s so, it needs a new Bridge. :(

i´m intrigated by all your Uk gguy´s choice of Les pauls.

Well, I was living in the US when I bought my LP -- though I guess it's raising the UK's LP quotient now.  Good question, really .... I guess it's just that most, or at least many, of my favourite guitarists played LPs. So it was a natural way for me to go.  For Fenders, I've always leaned more towards Teles than Strats for some reason, but I dig the "modified Gibson" shapes more and more, and I quite like that BC Rich Eagle picture :)  I'd like something like that in an HSS and 25" scale, merging some of the things from LP and and Strats ..... :)

Yeah, that's cool -- I like the body shapes like that where the tail, or butt end,  looks fairly rounded and traditional, but then the horns get more exotic.   How many frets do that have?  (I'm too lazy to count in the picture.)

I know a little about what you mean when you say that all guitars are expensive in Brazil.  When I was last in Colombia, I went into a guitar shop in Bogota, and even the most cheezy imitation brands had outrageous prices. I can easily imagine some kid saving his money for ages only to end up with a relatively cruddy guitar.  Do you know about any luthiers around your part of Brazil (or even in some other part?)?  I often wonder if, especially in a place like Brazil, whether a decent luthier couldn't make a much better guitar for the money than any imported guitar.  That's often true even in Britain; if I had the money for a high-end guitar, I wouldn't buy a fancy PRS here, but instead I'd go to something like Feline. :)
