What was the H&K Switchblade like? That was on my list of maybe's before I got my Screamer, but I never got the chance to try one - the screamer was a must buy for the price at LGS (thanks Tim  )

And what was the Ibanez SZ like - I was considering one of those as my next guitar (could be years away yet :P )

Oh and also, Wlecome back Dave - you seem to have not been around for a while :drink:

EDIT: See my Bareknuckles <---- I finally got them :D

the switchblade was alright, but not great. I dunno about H&K- they have a very unique voicing. Sounded a little sterile to me (the switchblade). Didn't help that I tried it next to the triamp though....

have you thought of checking out a genz benz el-diablo? I was very impressed with it...

the sz was good. But then I tried an SZ a while ago, and it didn't feel so good.

It's a korean ibanez. Don't buy one unless you get the chance to play the one you're going to buy, as those korean ibby's havce some pretty dodgy quality control...

What are the BK's like?

Hey, I've got a Cort X-custom. Love the neck, hate the bridge pickup :(

Yeah, the invader is quite possibly the worst pickup I've ever played. Awful. What the hell was seymour thinking?

Now that has helped me a bit.
Black Dogs

Previous BKP's: Riff Raff, Holy Divers, Painkillers, C. Warpig, Nailbomb, Miracle Man.

I played an F-30 at LGS before buying the screamer during my period of deliberation, and decided that it had a great warm clean tone (different to Engl - more jazzy) but it was fairly shitee at everything else in comparison to the Screamer...but I guess that's just my opinion :P

aye, I tried an f30 next to the screamer. I actually liked the f30, but the screamer seemed to be more versatile. That being said, I tried a screamer in London, and wasn't overly impressed [EDIT: ok, that's a bit strong- I did like channels 1 and 3. Channel 2 is fine, but it'd need its own treble knob. Channel 4 was a little harsh, maybe it's just that there's no depth boost button]. But I was impressed with the el diablo about 2 weeks ago.

So yeah, if I were looking for a modern sounding combo at about £800-£1000, and it needed to have several channels, at the moment the el diablo is my number one recommendation/contender.

of course, the El diablo is a bit more cash, so it should be better... though obviously things don't always work out like that...

super, glad to be of any help. Bear in mind, that's going on what I've heard as well as personal experience- a guy on another site (I think he's registered here too, but has about 2 posts only) bought an s470, and the pickup selector was in upside down, and there were lots of other problems too. He just exchanged it for another guitar.
