We could rewind them, no problem. It would be very time consuming and expensive to make new one's as the parts are very hard to get hold of.

Argh, then it sounds like no BKPs for my Rick bass unless I can find some stock ones for rewind  :(.  Actually ... come to think of it, that might not be completely insane; even new stock Rick-made 4003 bass pickups can be had for USD 75 a piece, maybe USD 90 for the 4004 humbuckers.  In British pounds, that's not so extreme, really!

I've heard the 4004 humbuckers (as used on the Lemmy signature model, among other things) are 15k ohms and intended to be wired in series, so they sound a muddy if dropped straight into a 4001/4003 (unless you change the pots on the 4001/4003 from 250 ohms to perhaps 500 ohms or more).  Perhaps this is just the sort of thing a rewind could fix on the stealth, though?  Not sure how Rickenbacker pots their PUs (hopefully not in epoxy like the Bartolinis!).
