Ahh, we do differ slightly! The bridge coil on mine is black. Let's do the preinstallation check... soldering iron warmed to correct heat... ouch... yes! Solder - check. Wet sponge... check. Can of Boddingtons... I will also be wearing my BKP camo T-Shirt for extra mojo

I was quite impressed with the Phat Cat, to my ears not a bad sounding pickup. Not exactly what I expected from a humbucker sized P90 in terms of tone, but I've found it useable non the less. The upgrading of my Hamer with BKP-92's though moved the goalposts for me though!  :)

One more Question -- will the VHII in the bridge allow me to get a vintage Dave Murray style tone?

Good news - I sold off my Joe Bardens in my '79 Strat on ebay! (The auction only lasted 25 minutes!!)

I am now looking for a single humbucker to throw into the bridge position for the time being; may add a neck pickup later, if I feel the need.

The body is solid ash -- guitar weighs a ton!!

I was thinking of putting another Miracle Man into the bridge of this guitar (uncovered). Would this be a good sonic fit? I was thinking Holy Diver ... what say all of you?

Here's a picture of the Strat itself -- 1979 hardtail Strat, vintage bridge.

What kind of pickguard is that?

That pickguard was solid brass; it's SUPPOSED to be shiny, but I'm not very dilligent with stuff like that. ;)

The new pickguard I'm having made by www.pickguards.com; it's going to be  black with a white spider's web design!! \m/

Good question; I don't rightly recall!
I think it was $50 US, and is made (or at least packaged) by Fender.

I really gave the guitar a 'warm' look, and it added some mass to the guitar, too.
