MIRACLE MAN or other for ash Strat?
« on: June 07, 2005, 03:01:41 PM »
Good news - I sold off my Joe Bardens in my '79 Strat on ebay! (The auction only lasted 25 minutes!!)

I am now looking for a single humbucker to throw into the bridge position for the time being; may add a neck pickup later, if I feel the need.

The body is solid ash -- guitar weighs a ton!!

I was thinking of putting another Miracle Man into the bridge of this guitar (uncovered). Would this be a good sonic fit? I was thinking Holy Diver ... what say all of you?

Here's a picture of the Strat itself -- 1979 hardtail Strat, vintage bridge.

Why don't you consider a Nailbomb or Warpig?

Miracle man would sound great though!

Or a VH2 for a great Hot PAF tone.

They're four of my rock favorites!

I'm definitely putting a Nailbomb in my M1 Tiger -- sorry, should've mentioned that!

So, I'm looking for a 3rd pickup for the Strat.

I love the VH2, I'd bet it'll sound great in a strat into your Rivera!

Although if the VH tone isn't for you, why not go for something completly different - a crawler? They sound great in strats, give them lots of mid weight.

If you've got the Nailbomb and Miracle man and want a different tone, then I guess the first step  is to decide to go lower or higher output from what you've got already!

For my money I'd go for the VH II-it'll give you another voice to call on and although the DC might seem low at DC9.2K it's no slouch-you'll have to work for your money and there's nowhere to hide but the pay back is HUGE tone. For the type of '80s tone we know you love, it'll be perfect. PDT_015

How about the Holy Diver then? It's right up TO's alley. Or would that be too harsh in an ash body Strat?

Bit too bright IMHO as it's a 43 AWG plain enamel vs the VH's meatier 42 AWG plain enamel.

I just ordered a VHII today for the bridge of my Strat (alder body) through Oxford Guitar Gallery. After reading that, I cannot wait.  :)
