Genius. I was addicted to it as a kid, before I discovered The Young Ones and Black Adder. The darts is a classic, as is constable savage. I've got some of he LPs at home too.

These shows (NTN o'clock News/ Youngones / Comic Strip) really framed my warped psychology and sense of humour.

I miss it... but it prepared me for the onslaught of The Day Today and Brass Eye.

On the subject of comedy, what do you guys think of Steve Coogan's "Saxondale"?

I don't think Saxondale's that laugh out loud funny, but the way it gets the roady stereotype is richly comic.

And I'm only 15 so I've only seen those old comedies on lots of top 100 clip shows  :(   Still look funny though, and better than all this little britain, catherine tate style catchphrase comedy.

The constable savage clip has been edited since its original transmission .

The BBC will not show the original in full now because it is un-PC and considered offensive due to the use of the phrase "Nig-nog" by the copper.
