Terrorizer mag?
« on: August 06, 2006, 10:37:15 PM »
Hadnt seen this mag around Southampton for ages and then I was picking up another on saturday and found it in there. I wouldnt say I was exclusively into all things Death, Black and super-uber heavy, but its nice to crank up on a hot afternoon.

Wish I had a cdplayer in the shed when working on my little projects.

Anyway, on the cd theres a Strapping Young Lad track called We Suck I think, never heard them  before (SYL) but have been a major fan of Townsends for years. Infinity, Ocean Machine, Physicist and Terria are all very good albums, almost prog rock.  :D

Voivoid were on there too. Hadnt heard them before either but now feel I have to rectify their serious absence from my CD collection.

that mag has been going for a LONG time - I just recently started getting it again.  the cover CD always has some interesting bands on and not the usual cr@p magazines palm you off with.

The time before that I'd bought it I'd found a rather superb track by ex-members of Emperor!  8)  That was about 2 years back and then the mag just dissappeared from Southampton (well my usual haunts) :(

I like the free cds you get as its an instant "do I, dont I buy it?" for me. Reviews are ok, but the cd is instantaneous.

I don't usually buy magazines, only when i have a long journey somewhere and i need to kill the time, when i do i get Metal Hammer, it used to be good but now it is full of emo cr@p, so i bought my first guitar magazine when i was flying to Portugal 2 weeks ago, it was Total Guitar and it was such a cool mag.
I think i bought Terrorizer once, it was good, but i could never find it anywhere again, maybe i'm just not looking hard enough!

I used to buy Kerrang! every week, but then it started to get filled with teenagers bitching about things/bands/other fans. I hated that and moved to Metal Hammer for about 2 years until that went the same way. In the end I just thought I was a bit too old to be reading kids letters, which they seemed to be, and so began reading Sound on Sound, Guitarist, Amateur Photographer, etc.  :D

Met Mike Exley about 12 years back, after Metal Forces had gone tits up. He was working for Noise UK at the time, and was doing the co-ordination and PR on a 2 week UK tour we did. The German indie label we were with had signed up some sort of deal with Noise, so I managed to blag a number of freebies off Mike. ;)

Used to subscribe to Terrorizer, but it's gone really cr@p over the last few years (IMO) and it didn't cover that many bands I liked, so I only ended up reading about a third of it before it went into the recycling bag.

Still, it's good to see at least one magazine that's available on the high street catering for the "underground" metal scene.
