Hey guys!

So, I made a lot of money this summer, and was hoping to invest in my second guitar.

This guitat WILL NOT replace my SZ....I want a second guitar to compliment it....hopefully with a trem for a little more versatility!

First, I was planning to buy a PRS Singlecut (my dream guitar) and use my SZ as the backup, but after my Gig last night, I decided I don't need it! I recently swapped the rectifier tubes in my Dual Recto for JJ GZ34's and it brought a completely new tone to my amp. Everything is soo much tighter! Not only the tone, but it feels like I'm playing a new guitar because of it!

So, I decided to look into a second quality guitar.....with a TREM!

My first Idea, as I have always loved Ibanez, was an RG.....570 or 1570 more than likely, or a S, unless I can find something else on ebay. I will go either new or used, as money isn't really much of an issue.

Are there any other guitars you would recommend? From what I've played and heard, the RG and S seem to be the best for the money.

Next, I want to swap the pups right away!

What would you guys recommend? Again, my first thought was the PRS Tremonti's...I have them in my SZ and they pair gorgeously with my Recto! But is there anything else? I don't feel the need to dish out for Bareknuckles....at all (sorry Dave ) ....how about EMG's? Never really tried them......

I had an S540 and I miss it now! Great guitar for the money. Heck, good guitar for twice the money.

The Tremonti Pups will likely sound poor in a thin, flat basswood/alder bodied guitar. Most people here don't like EMGs, and assuming you favour a Creed/Alter Bridge sort of sound then they're not for you. Personally I'd get a set of Nailbombs (which surely are the same price as the Tremontis, so "shelling out" isn't an issue :? ).
As for the guitar, you're a little confusing. You talk about the PRS Singlecut, and then talk about an Ibanez that's £1500 cheaper! If you're in the Singlecut sort of bracket then the new Dean Soltero looks seriously cool. Indeed, if you wait until November then there'll be a Jerry Cantrell model with a Kahler!!!!! This will fulfill both your desires

At the Ibanez 1570 end of the market, the 2006 Jackson DK2 and DKMG are pretty sweet. Normally I'd recommend Maverick, but you're in the states. The new Dean Vendetta 4 Floyd looks seriously sweet as well, carved top doublecut with trans black flame finish, Floyd and DiMarzio super distortions.

Best all-rounder is the ESP M-II.

It comes standard with an OFR bridge and SD pups. The neck plays great and the guitar has a well balanced tone.

Is you're looking to spend serious money ($2k or over) there are a couple of other guitars I would recommend you check out, as well.

seconded. Though I can't get along with the narrow nut (:() but yeah, nice guitar. The musicmen are nice too (again, narrow nut, plus the trems on them, while double locking, aren't floating, you can only dive with them).

or ibanez rg1570 if you'r after a good quality shred machine on a budget (ish). You'll need to switch the pickups, though.

haha, it's true. I can notice it, unfortunately. I think it's because I play a lot of bends on the lower frets as well as the higher ones...

but yeah, it's friggen' annoying. I've lost count of the excellent guitars I've played, but had to avoid, because they're the wrong nut width! :lol:

The real problem with the ESP MII is thant it is seriously fugly! The SL3 Soloist is a much more attractive guitar.
