Hi folks :)

I just got my pickups the other week (see sig) and I was wondering what I can do with the different combinations of the coils. Series, I get that (oh, yeah, I get it alright  ) but I have a couple of questions.

First, I wired the pickups on the same tags on the selector as my old EMG's and 2nd position has unexpected results. It used to (with a 2 cond 81) be middle + bridge. Now it makes a very bassless high attack high gain sound that surely isnt the mid+b? What is this sound?

I'm guessing I unintentionally wired it as tapped in 2nd position?

And what are the other possibilities for wiring I have for a 5 way switch, one normal (non-push/pull) vol and the pickups below? And what do the different combinations of phase etc sound like?

I'd like to experiment a bit but I dont really know the path of the signals, what tag on the selector selects what (there are 8, as I asume is standard as its the same as my other 3 5-ways). I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to guitar wiring (but I can hold my own at electronics, so call it straight down the line and dont spare me the details please)

Any help appreiciated.

Mark.

P.S. To Tim: I'm deleriously happy with the pickups, amazing stuff. Dont know how I lived without them. Thanks :!:  (for starting BKP as well as making my set :) ).

First off, meter out the switch so you know which lug is live with each position - there's a lot of wierd switches, my old Charvel had a very strange 5 way, lug one was position 2.....lug 6 was 1

It sounds like you've tapped the warpig out of phase with the middle tour. Swap the black and red of th epig should cure this. If it is tapped, you'll have a ground wire running to the 5way somewhere.

Other options are a series/parrallel switch on the humbucker, which is a great tone. Then don't use the auto coil tap on the 5 way

Another one would be a pull switch to engage the bridge in all positions, so you can get neck and bridge.

For more options order a 4 pole 5 way from BKP, then you can do almost anything!
